The 2024 Ransomware Risk Report reveals concerning statistics for business, IT, and security leaders. This report reveals that 74% of victims were attacked not once, but multiple times. Certain countries and industries were more likely to experience subsequent attacks. But overall, more than half the companies we surveyed were successfully breached two or more times — sometimes within the same day.

Axio researchers analyzed updated data from the Axio360 Ransomware Preparedness Assessment tool to prepare the 2022 State of Ransomware Preparedness report (2022 Study). The Ransomware Preparedness Assessment is informed by input from hundreds of ransomware events, guidance from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and Axio’s own research. Organizations across multiple critical infrastructure sectors have used the tool to determine the strength of their ransomware practices and controls, to identify gaps, and to prioritize improvements.

In this Director Sentiment Monitor for Q4 2022, 41% of respondents told us their primary organization has experienced a cyber attack. Interestingly, 36% of respondents said their primary organization had cyber security as a standing item at all board meeting, while 27% said it was discussed quarterly. Among other findings, it is also encouraging that 81% of respondents said their primary organization has a cyber security response plan in place.
